About

I really love music, more than anything. I love to talk about and discuss music.

I occasionally feel the need to say some music-related things, and I sometimes enjoy writing stuff, so I put that discussion here in the off-chance that anyone would care to read it. (although I have no delusion that anyone does read it).    :)

I’ll use this blog as a venue to post about shows, albums, general music discussion, etc.

I currently live in Seattle, so I am likely to be influenced by this region's music vibe, which I have noted does have a unique vibe, (as does every area).

I like to think that I have an eclectic taste in music, and that I listen to a little of everything, but alas that isn’t really true. These tag-clouds are generated from 7 years of my own music listening data (“Scrobbles”) from my Last.fm data, and therefore are probably a far better visualization of my taste in music than I am even consciously aware of.

As you can see, there are some major gaps and missing genres, showing my taste is not as well-rounded as I like to think. Anyway, the point is: you can expect the content of this blog (artists, albums, and shows I go to) to be in the general realm of what these tag-clouds convey.

For more on my listening habits you can refer to my Last.fm profile, browse my Last.fm Charts, or feel free to dive into and explore the full 7 years of my Scrobbling timeline.

The blog will also serve as a kind of music journal of my music listening history where I can plant memory-hooks for future reference. One day I can look back at what I was listening to, thinking about, and what music I was into at a specific time.

I'll also use this space (hopefully) to talk about music related tools like useful websites, software, web-services, widgets, and other cool stuff to enhance your music enjoyment.

I hope you find it worth an occasional read.

The origin of the blog's name.

The name of this blog originated from the lyrics of an of Montreal song: "Faberge Falls for Shuggie" from their fantastic album Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? The lyrics, at one point, have this sequence of phrases:
Skeletal Lamping
The Controller Sphere
False Priest
The most recent album at the time of this blogs creation was Skeletal Lamping, and I correctly noticed the pattern and anticipated the potential album naming-convention of the future of Montreal albums: Skeletal Lamping, The Controller Sphere, False Priest.

I liked the sound of the phrase "The Controller Sphere" and thought it would be cool to simultaneously name my blog after one of favorite band's upcoming albums. To my surprise this pattern did play-out in reality with the naming of those next 2 albums. This Album Title Drop example is noted here  (do a Find for "of Montreal" on that page).

There you have. The rest is history. This blog continues to entertain the masses.
